Greetings friends,
Ugh, here I am again. I’ve been going through a series of experiences (as facilitated by Jupiter wrapping up its stay in my sixth house) that have been showing me how unsustainable some of my expectations for myself have been, and I’ve been working quite intently at curating more sustainable systems and structures for me to operate through. I’ve been running into the detriments of my own ambition over and over in the past few months—I set too high of expectations for myself, get overwhelmed, and freeze; I underestimate the time tasks will take and how much mental capacity I truly have to accomplish them…it’s not ideal. This is naturally leading me into another rebrand or work reconfiguration, which means there are some changes I’m going to implement into the newsletter. Writing has been one of the least sustainable things for me in my work, as it has provided me with the least amount of income while demanding the most of my time. I’ve realized that my inconsistency with writing and publishing has been, yet again, because I am trying to adhere to a system that once fit into my life but no longer does. So here’s my thing moving forward: I’m not writing horoscopes for the newsletter any longer, or at least not for every single installment. I’ll write them when they naturally flow from me. Just wanted to share that with you so there’s no confusion. I’m lightening my workload with writing to bring the fun back into it because, despite my silence, I miss you.
Anyway, enough about me. This new moon is looking fun and bright, amidst some very interesting configurations that are brewing under the surface and are likely going to be more visible come July (mid-July is going to be very BIG). Perhaps my characterization of this moon is shaped by my own bias, as I myself am a Gemini moon. Many people may feel tired and overwhelmed by some of the bigger energies talking in the background…I’m specifically thinking about Jupiter’s square to Chiron; both of them are either reaching or are already at the final degree of their signs. While I could rattle on about what this may more intricately mean, I think the core essence of the current energetic landscape is highlighting a need for simplicity and optimization. We may find that most of our discomfort or suffering at this point in time is coming from our overcomplication of our circumstances (and obviously there are very real factors that make life challenging and difficult, but I’m specifically referencing the complication that we add). This is a valuable time for us to get a little bit more curious and experimental to identify how we can streamline the routines and essential processes of our lives to make them into more supportive foundational structures. Perhaps to make space for more ideas to be entertained, we first have to liquidate the things that are stealing away our precious time and attention without giving back to us in the ways that we presently need.
I’ll share about the bigger things happening in due time. For now, let’s discuss this new moon.
A Multitude of Potentials
One thing I find most prominent about this new moon is that it’s not aspecting any larger planetary bodies, other than the obvious conjunction to the sun the moon is making to create this lunation. The moon in Gemini is intellectual and curious; it needs a great deal of conversation and mental stimulation to feel emotionally satisfied. Considering Mercury—this moon’s ruler—in Cancer (which is preparing to retrograde, by the way), I’ve been feeling quite reflective, thinking back to childhood, to simpler times in my life, to periods when life felt much more certain. And perhaps you are too. There is a level of nostalgia that will linger in the air as we inch closer to the Mercury retrograde in Cancer, and I think that may lead some people into scenarios that remind them of the familiarity of the past, perhaps because they will literally be entertaining past engagements, or they’ll be revisiting an archetype or energetic signature of something that they share history with. The moon in Gemini ignites the mind with emotion, and considering Mercury and the moon are in mutual reception—they are sitting in one another’s natural domain—we may find that we have a harmonious exchange between the mind and emotional body at this time. Perhaps we’re becoming more cognizant of emotional patterns as we see them play out in real time, yet again, and are being more intentionally participatory in the story—will you replay it or write a different ending?
When I was little, I was always telling stories. My parents playfully jab at me at times, reminding me of the long car rides where they patiently listened to my endless ramblings (every time a conclusion was seemingly in sight, I would add, “and thennnn” LOL). I think through this lunation, instead of telling stories, I’ve been more focused on living a story that I’ll be proud of. I’ve made many steady changes in the past month or so, and I’ve seen some of the timelines of cycles I’ve repeated for many years compress, which is a good sign, because it means they’re finally collapsing. One thing I’ve found to be challenging about having my natal moon in Gemini is the need for information in order to feel at peace in the body and nervous system. This once manifested as pretty crippling anxiety, but I’ve learned how to manage that over the years. The moon is intuition, and Gemini is an archetype that governs data collection; therefore, the moon in Gemini often feels the need for its intuitive hits to have evidential corroboration in order to be taken seriously enough to act upon. The need for proof is an unnecessary and self-imposed obstacle, as Gemini moon is destined to learn that intuition is the information and that feeling is evidence.
I think there are two things you can ponder under this moon’s formation. How perfect, with Gemini being one of the double-bodied signs…the twins.

1. There is No “Right” Decision, There is Only the One You Choose
This is something I am perpetually troubled by—finding the “right” decision. It’s an illusion! There is no correct choice; there is only the one you make. If you find the choice you made is not leading you in a direction you’re satisfied with, there will be another choice available to correct your path to be something that feels more supportive. And if you feel upset about a potential reality that you’re missing out on by foregoing the choice you do not choose, then perhaps you can find peace in knowing that there is an alternate you, in a different timeline, who chose that which you did not and will see your curiosity through. That’s what I do at least.
Gemini is the sign of the twins—the twins in question being Castor and Pollux. If you didn’t know, Castor and Pollux were identical twins, but their great dividing factor was that Castor was mortal and Pollux was immortal. Castor was eventually killed in battle, but by pleading with his father, Zeus, Pollux was able to get Castor granted immortality. However, there was a condition. Zeus commanded that the twins spend half their time amongst the stars and half their time on Earth. This is obviously the very consolidated version of the story, but I am sharing the pieces that are most prominent to me in the representation of Gemini and are pertinent to its symbolism.
The first is the brothers’ original mortality difference—Castor being mortal, Pollux being immortal. I find that this translates into Gemini’s rule of the intellect by reminding us that thought, like Pollux’s immortality, can go on forever—we can workshop, and branch off, and reimagine a million times over and still not even come close to synthesizing a percentage of all possible angles. If we were to only sit, thinking all the time, what purpose do ideas serve? This is when Castor must be considered—ideas have a shelf life because we have our own expiration date. Life, on this plane of existence, is finite. And if “ideas” don’t make sense in this imagery to you, then perhaps knowledge, a skill, a conversation, or—as I was saying—a choice, fits for you. Knowledge turns into wisdom when we act upon it and learn from what happens as a result of our action, regardless of what that looks like. The information you are conscious of—whether it be an idea, a personal truth, a curiosity, or something else—it doesn’t matter what it is. If you do not channel it into a direction, only keeping it as a thought, then you’ll never see the value it could add to your life. You’ll be stuck with its shapeless potential and the infinite hypotheticals that could have resulted from your acting upon it. You’ll never know the answer if you don’t ask. And this leads me to the second thing that stands out to me in the twins’ story, which is their eventual unification in immortality, on the condition that they split their time between worlds.
Castor and Pollux’s time amongst the stars and time upon the earth remind me of the value in perspective, as well as the importance of seasons. There is a time for spiritual recalibration, which often requires a great deal of rest, introspection, and stillness, and there is a time for birth, to exit the contemplation period and put one’s feet into the earth. The brothers can see much more from the heavens and therefore likely have a grander picture of what was, what is, and what is to come. Their ability to make decisions may be better informed, but it is also charged with much more weight. From the perspective of God, we can see all, but from that view, the intricacies of the full picture become blurred. The starting point and the steps that follow it become hard to identify. Their perspective on earth is limited, and therefore, it would only make sense that they make decisions based on what they can see in their current experience. If we were to see from the perspective of God, we may never make a decision again, but here on earth, with our limited sight, ignorance is bliss, and in that, we are granted the freedom to choose without the weight of it being the ultimate, final call.
Castor and Pollux’s time between worlds reminds us of the importance of seeing both the parts that compose the whole and the whole itself. The moon in Gemini can represent our intuitive understanding of the whole but an emotional attachment to understanding the details, and this is where we can interrupt the process of our ideas’ development. With the moon in Gemini, we must learn to not ask the intuitive body why so much, which is not something that comes easily for Gemini. It can be helpful under this new moon to remember that intuition is information, even if it does not have a logical explanation to accompany it—information that is just as valuable and worth acting from as the tangible data we’re clinging to. You may find that the more you make a habit of listening to your intuition, the more you will realize just how credible of a source it truly is. Intuition often senses things that we cannot see with our eyes.
I will also briefly note that I like to think of Janus, the Roman god of gates, transitions, thresholds, and time, when I think of Gemini. He was two-faced, literally! Interestingly, Janus is the name of one of Saturn’s moons; I like to think of him as a blend of Mercury and Saturn. Janus’s faces look in opposing directions, one to the past and one to the future—the way we move from the past to the future is through time, but that journey is an ever-repeating one, as the present keeps becoming the past and the future turns into the present. Gates, transitions, thresholds, and time all have one thing in common—they have bounds. There is a clear line between this side and that side. And that line is decision—it’s the vehicle into a different life!
In our attempts to make the “right” choice, we may unintentionally make a bunch of “wrong” ones by neglecting the choices we unknowingly make on a day-to-day basis. What you do when you first wake up, where your attention goes, which thoughts you entertain, what people you spend your time with, what you do when boredom strikes…whether it’s a reflex that’s developed through mindless repetition or a conscious movement, we choose each of these things every day. We may feel so captivated by the enormity of the choice that we think will change our lives one day, we forget the choices that are actively creating the lives we’re living right now. This is the invitation of this new moon—can you make the mundane choices count? Can you participate in the creation of your reality by being more conscious in the decisions you face today?
2. To Find Your Answer, Get Out of the Head and Into the Body
I think this will be something that we will be urged to interface with much more prominently(!) once Mercury goes retrograde on the 29th. But in the context of this new moon, with the moon and Mercury being in mutual reception, there is a reminder through this lunation that we’re probably making something much more complicated than it needs to be by looking for the logical justification of it. Everything can look right on paper, and it still may not feel right. You can have the status, financial compensation, security, and structure of your dream job—hell, you may enjoy the job too!—and it still may not feel right. You can be with a good partner who has a kind soul and treats you well, and you still may get a feeling within that you’re not meant to be together. You are allowed to do what feels right to you, even if you don’t have the evidence to make it make sense to other people.
Gemini governs communication and immediate community—it represents, more specifically, the impactful influence that our community has on our cognitive process, language, mannerisms, and outlook on life. This moon may be setting the stage for a new way of engaging with your community, one that may support you in thinking, speaking, and acting in accordance with who you want to be a little bit more easily. You may find through this lunation that some people are having more of a detrimental influence on your perspective than a supportive one, and while that may mean that some connections have to be let go of, this may also be an invitation to ignite a conversation to examine their thought process—perhaps something mutually beneficial will result from asking a few questions. That said, I do think with the Mercury retrograde looming on the horizon that some may be facing the tough decision of leaving behind a familiar community, thought process, mental sanctuary, or way of navigating daily matters that has made them feel a sense of safety due to its familiarity, even if it is not very conducive to the evolution they’re trying to head up in their lives.
This is an important time for us to get curious about what the body might be saying to us, as the intuitive compass—the gut feeling—has a tendency of leading us in a favorable direction while avoiding unnecessary friction. Maybe this moon is highlighting a truth that you’ve been aware of but have hesitated from acting on. That could reference an idea, a conversation, a habit, a choice, or something else entirely—whatever it is, now would be a good time to act on that feeling.
To summarize, there may be some choices that are more important than you think they are; their mundane appearance may just have you overlooking them. The change you are seeking may lie on the other side of them. The excitement you are striving for may actually result from you being more conscious and intentional in the daily choices that compose your habits. Now’s not a notable time to fixate on what it all means, although meaning may result from all of these little choices and actions as we participate in them more intentionally. Think of this moon as a brain dump—no structure, no objective, no obligation for it to be something. Let everything in your mind out on paper…once you look at it, what does your intuition tell you to pay special attention to? What first catches your eye? Start there. See where it goes. It’ll all come together in perfect time.
I missed you. Talk soon.
xx, Aspen

yay! i enjoyed this piece, i’m glad you are writing again and i support the changes!
Girlie you eat me up everytime. I just did a reading on myself about finding the beauty in the mundane. The goals I am seeking aren’t overnight but slow intentional steps, taking it one day at a time. Eventually, it won’t just be a dream or a bigger thing , but a tangible reality that I am living.
